CORPORATE AND ELITE PERFORMANCE
Power Begins Within
A.R.T.
Supports Power at its Source
Performance depends on having flexibility when it counts
Knowledge, skill and experience only matter if you can access them under pressure.
Under pressure, the body can narrow the range of responses available. Thinking can become constrained, speech, breath and access to locomotion can be withdrawn. Familiar emotional patterns can take hold and the individual can lose access to essential capacities:
- Task initiation
- Verbal fluency
- Sustained attention
- Cognitive flexibility
- Precision
- Emotional regulation
- Sound judgement
- Composure
- Leadership presence
- Recovery
At high levels of performance, even a small loss of control matters.
A.R.T. works with the physiology underneath performance
At a high level, limitations are usually approached through mindset, strategy or greater effort.A.R.T. approaches them from underneath. The work identifies the underlying physiological organisation that accompany limiting patterns, and begins giving the nervous system different information. As the body changes, thought patterns and emotional responses can change with it.A.R.T. is mind-body work in the literal sense: the two are addressed as part of the same system.A.R.T. influences the deep interstitial patterns that influence attention, decision-making, emotional response, movement, recovery and the ability to access yourself when the stakes are high.
A.R.T. has been shown to improve:
Sleep duration • Sleep efficiency • Sympathetic arousal • Heart-rate variability / HRV
Zero Point and Deep Yin
High performance is often associated with activation: drive, focus, exertion, speed and intensity - the practice of yang
There is another route
Zero Point describes a deeply relaxed, purposeful state in which the person remains exceptionally available: physically, cognitively and perceptually - a state of deep yin.
Versions of this state are described in contemplative practice, flow and elite performance. People sometimes arrive there after years of training, prolonged stillness or at particular moments when effort suddenly moves into flow.
A.R.T. works deliberately with the physiology that allows this deeply transformative state to become more readily accessible. It is here, in the quiet, that the nervous system can widen its map; it is here it can open to something new. It is here, in its inner sanctum, that it collects it's strength and robustness.
A.R.T. doesn't take hours of sitting in painful silence, rigourous breath work, nor emotional flagellation.
Instead, we gently remind the body that this state exists, and that it inherently knows its pathways.
From there, the work develops around the personal pathways of accessing zero point, remaining available with it, and carrying that availability back into environments that require action, passion, precision and pressure.
This much sought after state is what the martial-arts call Dantien - the physical source of our power and self awareness. When we can harness it, we hold self agency - effortlessly.
A.R.T. strengthens the physiological and energetic through-line of the vagus nerve, supporting improved autonomic and top-down control.
