PROFESSOR STEPHEN PORGES
Creator of The Polyvagal Theory
"Holly continues to refine her clinical style, to enable her to support her clients’ journey to have richer lives and to experience the benefits of being safe enough to co-regulate with others. She has successfully expanded her clients’ range of social behaviour and resilience."
DR. GERARD COSTA
Former Director, Centre for Autism, Early Childhood Mental Health.
Montclair State University, New Jersey
"Holly is one of those rare “translators” of science into application and practice. She teaches professionals and families and supports those with developmental difficulties with deep understanding, passion and care. She is a gift to our work."
Polyvagal, Trauma, Neurodiversity Informed
"I created A.R.T. over fifteen years ago in response to what I saw was a dearth of respectful and considered approaches to autism. It was inspired by my own relationship with shut-down states and what I began to understand about myself in relation to autism, as well as what I knew about the brain and how we learn.
A.R.T. now caters for a wide range of neurological issues, is applicable for all ages, and is an internationally recognised therapy. I am getting referrals from all over the world, from a range of Dr's, Psychiatrists and Allied Health practitioners who recognise that what I am achieving, even though there are now many new modalities around the Polyvagal Theory, is exemplary. I think this is because my focus is highly attenuated by my neurodivergent mind and my deep, unwavering belief in human capacity.
This course is here to give you skills, and to inspire you to work with kindness and intelligence for those whom you serve - and for yourself.

COURSE MODULES
Complicated science made simple
MODULE 1: Setting a New Stage
We begin by exploring Ken Wilber's Integral Theory and how healing expands when we consider the whole person, not just their diagnosis or symptoms. From there, we examine autism and mental illness within their historical and cultural context, reflecting on how Western assumptions have shaped our understanding and our bias. We begin to look at how this has shaped our thinking - and we kindly challenge it - so we can make a clean space to work from.
MODULE 2: Polyvagal Theory
This module takes a unique look at Polyvagal Theory and its practical application to autism. By integrating additional biology and anatomy, it provides a broader understanding of experiences including meltdowns, shutdown, autonomic states, well-being. We explore how the body influences the mind and just how much who we are - is dependent on the state of the nervous system.
MODULE 3: Brain/Body Circuitry
Discover how the many systems of the body work together to shape our mental, emotional and physical states. This module brings together current research on the vestibular, immune and limbic systems, and the brain, to explain how they support movement, emotional regulation and executive functioning - and what this means for understanding and supporting delicate nervous systems. This module helps so many things make sense.
MODULE 4: Brain Plasticity
Building on Anat Baniel's Nine Essentials, introduced in the Reframe Your Thinking Around Autism book, this module explores how these principles can be applied through an A.R.T. lens. Learn how to work with greater sensitivity, curiosity and precision to support neurodivergent nervous systems through movement, play, connection and a greater sensitivity to those in your care. This then allows us to modify our A.R.T. practice.
MODULE 5: Hara Ball Exercise
Learn how the autonomic nervous system supports health, resilience and well-being, and why physiological flexibility is central to regulation. You'll then be guided through Holly's Hara Ball Exercise - a simple yet powerful practice designed to support this process. Includes practical demonstration videos so you can confidently use the technique yourself. Some people say this exercise is "better than botox!". It can bring you into a surprising state of calm.
MODULE 6: Hara Hand Points
Discover how the brain tracks and organises sensory information, and how these patterns influence behaviour, emotions and regulation. This module explores neurosensory alignment and how learned physiological responses can be reshaped through targeted sensory input. You'll then learn to apply Holly's A.R.T. Acupressure Hand Points through practical instruction and a real-life case study. We learn how to attend to the human in our care here, not just apply what we think they need. This is the art of A.R.T.

WHAT'S COVERED IN THE PROGRAM?
This is not a typical 'Polyvagal exercises' program.
We are learning to hold space for a highly sensitive nervous system, hold mulitple variables at a time - and unlearn a load of training we have had of pushing past - and pushing through.
Instead, we are learning to work with the intelligence of the nervous system.
So while the exercises Holly teaches can seem simple, the application of them is not.
A.R.T. is a very different kind of program.
Deepen your understanding of Polyvagal Theory
Promote client-led approaches, psychological safety, and connection
Integrate body-informed practice into your current theoretical framework
Enhance clients’ interoception, self-awareness, confidence, and regulation
Expand skills in supporting Autism, ADHD, ID, Trauma, Neurological Issues

TESTIMONIALS
“As a Forensic Psychiatrist, understanding the impact of trauma has led me down many paths of therapies as treatment modalities. The search for a therapy modality that ‘speaks’ to the body is like the proverbial needle in the haystack. Holly Bridges’ approach via A.R,T is that needle. Over the last 2 years, I have had the opportunity to learn from the Express and ART in-depth program to better understand Holly’s work.
Nothing prepared me for the unexpected way ART works or rather ‘communicates’ with the body.
It is an interesting approach combining Neurology principles with Eastern medicine. An approach that is not only gentle but potent for the nervous system to rediscover its purpose, balance and resilience. As a Psychiatrist, A.R.T exercises and vocabulary has given many patients with chronic mental health issues the much needed ‘exhale’, the words describing their experience living in and with their bodies. A.R.T in many ways is a portable toolkit for clinicians wishing to work with patients in a therapeutically non intrusive way”.

"My young client previously presented with a very blunted affect, but is now displaying a wide range of emotions and facial expressions, as well as expressing his needs.... I am using this in my work because of the large number of people I have seen for whom talking therapy is not OK. Their bodies are not in a safe state and therefore cognitive work is not appropriate. I have watched as this young person has “come alive”, he is asking questions, advocating for himself and expressing himself with greater clarity and insight."
